Davis turns ONE!!

Our William Davis turned one on June 3rd, 2010. The past year was full of so much fun, chaos, laughter, and love. He's a sweet boy who brings so much joy to those who know him. He's definitely a curious guy, but easy going, funny, and loves to make us all smile.

Playing with the trucks he got from Nana and Umpy after school.

We made a special banana cake for our chunky monkey on his actual birthday, since his party wasn't until the weekend. He definitely could tell something special was going on, but wasn't entirely sure of what all the singing and candles were for!

Check out the monkey cupcakes for his party!

He also had one great big cupcake that he could just dive right into!

Snuggling with Uncle Scott at his party.

Aunt Lisa and Lauren share a giggle.

Who are these two little giggle monkeys?!

A quick family photo op before digging into the special boy's cake!

He was pretty cautious and tidy about the whole thing.

But, all in all, he managed to get a good chunk. He didn't even need a bath afterward!
When we had our family portraits taken about 2 weeks before his birthday, I went ahead and had his 1 year photos taken as well. He's such a big boy now...

Thank you to all who were a part of our celebration!

Family Pictures

It took much coordination, but we managed to clear everyone's schedules in early May for family pictures. with Todd's family. It had been close to 5 years since we last had pictures taken, so we were missing a few faces!

First Big Boy Haircut

Davis had his first "big boy" haircut back in May before our family pictures were taken. He sat so still and was such a good boy the hairdresser gave him TWO suckers! He was in heaven...

Rip Van Winkle

As Davis began transitioning to the Young Toddler classroom, we found he was exhausted when he came home each night. And some nights, he just couldn't keep his eyes open long enough to finish his entire dinner...

Dancing Queen

Lauren had her first dance recital on May 15, 2010. Because they have class at her preschool, this was the first time being in an actual dance studio with mirrored walls, etc. And, it was her first time in her costume and tiara, so she was a bit distracted at seeing herself all glammed up!

Here she stands in "1st position".

Showing good form...

Switching to tap shoes-- I think their classes are normally held on carpet because all of the little girls were stomping, marching, etc., just to hear themselves making noise! :)

With her teacher, Miss Allison

Post-show flowers from her #1 fan: Daddy.

Muffins with Mommy

Every year, Lauren's preschool has a special event for Mother's Day called "Muffins with Mommy". The mom's get to come and have some special time with their kiddos. Lauren LOVES it when I join her at school for a bit.

me and my sweet girl

Playing outside after eating our scrumptious muffins!

We went to visit Davy too, but he was sound asleep!

That night after dinner we had icecream sammies. CLEARLY we loved them!

I think this sad face was because he didn't get to have a treat too. Never to fear, his 1st birthday and icecream days were not far ahead at this point!

A Lesson in Self-Feeding

This seems funny to reflect on now, as Davis is an old hat at feeding himself, but back in April it was still a fairly new exercise for him. More often than not, a nightly bath was required after dinner because food would be stuck in his ears, eye brows, hair, and ALL OVER his sweet face!!
